Office Hours: “Everyone Knows Everyone,” Confidentiality in Close-knit Communities Q&A
- Description
-
Strong partnerships and relationships are vital to doing victim service work well. We are always working to build bridges to other services and systems to improve our responses to survivors. At the same time, connections can come with expectations for information sharing. Programs based in rural areas, culturally-specific service providers, and other close-knit communities may struggle to navigate these pressures in ways that protect survivor privacy and maintain longstanding relationships. Join Laisa Schweigert, Senior Technology Safety Specialist with NNEDV’s Safety Net Project, and Alicia Aiken, J.D., Director of the Confidentiality Institute, for a Q&A session focused on how we support survivors by maintaining confidentiality even when “everyone knows everyone.”
