Advanced Trial Skills Institute

Description: The Advanced Trial Skills Institute teaches and enhances the litigation skills of attorneys who represent survivors of domestic violence in contested child custody hearings and trials. Working from a hypothetical fact pattern, participants perform direct and cross examinations of expert witnesses, lay evidentiary foundations for electronic evidence, complete impeachment exercises, and deliver closing arguments, while receiving immediate feedback and constructive critique from expert faculty. As a result of participating in the Advanced Trial Skills Institute, attorneys will gain confidence and improve their abilities to think quickly on their feet and effectively represent their clients in contested custody cases.
