The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) is partnering with Just Detention International (JDI) on the webinar Understanding the Realities of Incarcerated Transgender Men. This session is part of our collaborative work on training community-based victim service organizations to work with men who are survivors. This webinar will be presented by Ky Peterson and Kris Mady: Ky Peterson is a leading advocate for the rights of incarcerated transgender people. In 2011, Ky, a Black transgender man from Georgia, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing his rapist in self-defense. While in prison, Ky fought for the rights of incarcerated transgender people to have access to gender-affirming health care. Kris Mady is a Program Director at JDI. As part of the domestic programs team, Kris helps bring together corrections agencies and community rape crisis centers, ensuring that incarcerated survivors can get vital services to help them heal. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation, American Sign Language interpretation, and closed captioning will be available.
