Description

***Event is at Capacity***

“Where do I sit?” “Am I allowed to say anything during a hearing?” “What’s the difference between a restraining order and a protection order?” Effective legal advocacy requires understanding survivors’ legal options and being equipped to help survivors pursue them. Whether helping survivors understand how the legal system operates, the rules and roles in your jurisdiction, or what testimony is most impactful, preparation is always key. In this VRLC-hosted webinar, the Honorable Maureen McKnight will share her perspective from the bench. Senior Judge McKnight is a family and criminal court judge with over four decades of experience as a lawyer and trial judge in Oregon. She will use her expertise to guide you through the process of determining what is, and isn’t, permitted in your jurisdiction, as well as how you can best help survivors prepare logistically and emotionally for interacting with the legal system.
