Description

Calling all prosecutors and allied professionals! Connect with AEquitas Attorney Advisors and your peers on the third Thursday of every month to examine prosecution strategies, emerging issues, promising practices, and more.

Join us on April 17, 2025, to discuss Dating App Sexual Violence and Co-Occurring Crimes, featuring special guest Dr. Julie Valentine: Professor Ida May “Dotty” Barnes RN and D. Keith Barnes MD Presidential Endowed Chair of the University of Utah. Dr. Valentine is a certified adult/adolescent sexual assault nurse with Wasatch Forensic Nurses. She conducts research to improve practices and policies in criminal justice for sexual assault cases and has been a SAKI TTA consultant since 2017.

The conversation with Dr. Valentine and AEquitas Attorney Advisors will focus on the striking findings of a dating app facilitated sexual assault study Dr. Valentine conducted in Utah regarding:

  • assailant actions
  • patient characteristics
  • assault characteristics
  • the importance of knowing and focusing on the offender
  • identifying co-occurring crimes to ensure offender accountability.

If your office has been successful in investigating and prosecuting dating app sexual violence or if your office has faced challenges doing so, then this is the Office Hours for you! This is NOT a webinar, but a chance to meet our experts to converse, brainstorm, and share best practices or challenges in a national conversation. Please come ready to share your doubts and strategies about prosecuting dating app sexual violence and co-occurring crimes with other fellow prosecutors.

The discussion on April 17th will start at 2pm ET, and our panelists will be available to speak with you until 4pm.
