The EJS workshop will address domestic violence topics using hypothetical case problems, role-play exercises, small group discussions, and faculty demonstrations. This highly interactive format enables judges from different jurisdictions and levels of experience to learn from one another.
Attendees will learn about the following topics:
- Victim and Perpetrator Behavior
- Fact-Finding
- Access to Justice and the Judge’s Role in Community Response to Domestic Violence
- Fairness and Culture Issues in Domestic Violence Cases
- Decision-Making Skills and Enforcement
- Practical Courtroom Exercises
In addition to the Enhancing Judicial Skills in Domestic Violence Cases Workshop, we are hosting a pre-institute on complex child custody matters involving domestic violence, the morning of October 27th. Registration for the EJS workshop includes the pre-institute segment.
