- Description
-
Caitlin Mathis, a survivor and dedicated advocate,
will share her harrowing story of surviving stalking by a former dating
partner during her freshman year at the University of North Texas in
2016. Her experience was featured in a 2021 episode of 48 Hours titled
“The Murder of Jackie Vandagriff.”
Unlike many cases, Caitlin’s received a timely and effective response
from law enforcement—an intervention she credits with saving her life.
Today, through her advocacy, Caitlin raises awareness and gives a
voice to other victims, especially those who can no longer speak for
themselves. Her story is a strong reminder of the importance of early
intervention, support, and continued education around stalking and
relationship violence.
