Ujima, Inc.: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community

Summary

The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community in partnership with Black Skeptics, LA; Bowie State University, Department of Criminal Justice; First Baptist Church of Glenarden International; Just Solutions; The National Organization of Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault; and The Person Center will provide training and technical assistance, resource development, and support to enhance the services and responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking for Black/African American survivors. Over the course of the project period, Ujima will: conduct listening sessions to help inform the development of the project; create resources; host regional meetings and executive director roundtables; conduct quarterly webinars and other virtual trainings; develop a database of local and state culturally specific programs; and produce a final report that reveals lessons learned, gaps and barriers, and promising practices for Black/African American serving advocacy organizations. Ujima and its partners will also work in collaboration with other OVW TA Providers to provide training and technical assistance to OVW grantees and subgrantees and potential grantees and subgrantees.
