Summary

Tahirih's Trauma Informed Lawyering project offers training and technical assistance to lawyers and advocates working with immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Specifically our project offers training, technical assistance, and tools for attorneys and advocates to improve understanding of how the experience of trauma directly impacts how survivors of diverse backgrounds relate to their attorneys and interact with the justice system. Through this project, we will equip attorneys to successfully grapple with the realities of their clients; trauma experiences, put those experiences at the forefront of their representation, and adjust their legal approach to be responsive to the individual client's trauma experience, while also employing self–care tactics to mitigate the effects of a survivor's trauma experience on their advocate.
