Summary
The Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence (MNADV), the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center (JGCC) of Massachusetts, and Dr. Jacquelyn Campbell of The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing are the comprehensive technical assistance provider for the Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention Demonstration Initiative (DVHP Initiative). The DVHP Initiative seeks to identify, evaluate and build the key components necessary for successful replication of the MNADV’s Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) and the JGCC’s Domestic Violence High Risk Team (DVHRT) model. These models, leading promising practices in homicide prevention, coordinate disciplines, including law enforcement and community based domestic violence agencies, to focus on and increase victim safety and offender accountability. During Phase I of the DVHP Initiative, the comprehensive technical assistance provider is working with twelve communities across the country (Boston, MA; Brooklyn, NY; Contra Costa County, CA; Cuyahoga County, OH; Miami–Dade County, FL; North Charleston, SC; Pitt County, NC; Palm Beach County, FL; Rockdale County, GA; Rutland, VT; Westchester County, NY; and Winnebago County, IL).
