This course provides an overview of the various federal and state laws that govern interstate custody cases and an opportunity to practice making legal arguments to protect survivors. The training will cover how to interview survivors who are contemplating relocation and how to provide legal advice on the economic, safety and legal issues involved when survivors cross state lines with their children. You will learn about the nuts and bolts of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) and understand how parental kidnapping laws may be involved.
