SUMMARY:Understanding Theories of Change: Foundations for Abusive Partner I
 ntervention Work Webinar
DESCRIPTION:A program’s theory of change reflects its underlying beliefs
about why abusive behavior occurs and what must change for that behavior t
o stop. These beliefs shape how programs define the problem\, design inter
ventions\, measure success\, and hold participants accountable. This webin
ar will introduce the concept of a theory of change and explore how differ
ent frameworks have shaped responses to intimate partner violence (IPV) ov
er time. Participants will examine how assumptions about the causes of IPV
influence abusive partner intervention program goals\, curriculum\, facil
itator roles\, and definitions of success. The session will also provide p
ractical guidance and guiding questions to help programs identify\, clarif
y\, and strengthen their own theory of change so that their practices\, va
 lues\, and outcomes are aligned.
