 ht: 400">The National Institute on the Prosecution of Domestic Violence H
 omicide (NIPDVH) is an intensive\,  three-and-a-half-day in-person train
 ing designed for prosecutors who handle homicide cases\, domestic violence
  cases\, or both. The Institute equips prosecutors with the knowledge\, sk
 ills\, and strategies necessary to effectively investigate\, charge\, and 
 prosecute domestic violence homicides and near-fatal cases—while strengt
 hening systems-level responses aimed at preventing future loss of life.</p
 >\n<p style="font-weight: 400">Grounded in a victim-centered\, offender-f
 ocused\, and evidence-based framework\, NIPDVH challenges participants to 
 critically examine the dynamics and history of domestic violence relations
 hips that escalate to homicide. Prosecutors will learn to move beyond myth
 s and misconceptions by identifying patterns of coercive control\, escalat
 ion\, and lethality\, and by centering accountability on offender behavior
 .</p>\n<p style="font-weight: 400">Participants will learn to:</p>\n\n<ul>
 \n <li>Evaluate the dynamics and history of domestic violence relationship
 s that culminate in homicide or near-fatal violence\;</li>\n <li>Employ v
 ictim-centered\, offender-focused investigative and prosecutorial strategi
 es in domestic violence cases\;</li>\n <li>Build a strong foundation for 
 the admission of physical evidence\, including articulating its relevance\
 , probative value\, and connection to the elements of the crime\;</li>\n <
 li>Effectively utilize forensic\, medical\, and other expert testimony to
  help fact finders understand the significance and impact of evidence in d
 omestic violence homicide cases\;</li>\n <li>Analyze and respond to common
  defense strategies\, including self-defense claims\, victim blaming\, and
  minimization of abuse\; and</li>\n <li>Develop practical strategies to im
 prove the systemic response to domestic violence and enhance homicide pre
 vention efforts.</li>\n</ul>\n<p style="font-weight: 400">Curriculum topic
 s include:</p>\n\n<ul>\n <li>Domestic violence dynamics in homicide and ot
 her cases</li>\n <li>Strangulation\, firearms\, and coercive control</li>\
 n <li>Forensic and medical evidence in fatal and delayed-death cases</li>\
 n <li>Digital evidence and technology-facilitated abuse</li>\n <li>Witness
  intimidation and forfeiture by wrongdoing</li>\n <li>Defendant statements
 \, self-defense claims\, and charging considerations</li>\n <li>Expert tes
 timony\, jury selection\, trial strategy\, and ethical obligations</li>\n<
 /ul>\n<p style="font-weight: 400">Facilitated by a multidisciplinary natio
 nal faculty\, the Institute uses hypothetical case scenarios\, participant
  exercises\, small-group discussions\, interactive lectures\, and faculty 
 demonstrations to support skill development and practical application. Par
 ticipants will leave better prepared to prosecute domestic violence homici
 des in a manner that promotes justice for victims\, accountability for off
 enders\, and meaningful prevention of future violence.</p>\n\n</div>\n</di
