SUMMARY:Silenced or Valued? Learning from Advocate-Survivors in Rural Advoc
 acy Programs
DESCRIPTION:The work to end sexual assault\, domestic violence\, stalking\,
and dating violence was started and led by those who were most affected
—survivors of violence. Today\, much of that work is done by advocacy pr
ograms with staff that include survivors. Despite this reality\, rural adv
ocates who are also survivors are too often silenced by program practices
that discourage sharing personal experiences.\nIn our next webinar\, we’
ll consider how this shift happened and what programs are doing to address
it. The session will explore these questions:\n\nWhat barriers and suppor
ts exist for centering advocate-survivors in the work of rural advocacy?\n
How can rural programs welcome and value advocate-survivors?\nWhat practic
es and policies can rural programs institute or eliminate to better suppor
t advocate-survivors?\n\nDon’t miss out on this opportunity to broaden y
our perspective and enhance your advocacy!\n
