Description

Elder abuse is more common than most believe. It is especially difficult to acknowledge elder abuse within Tribal communities due to the important status held by Elders.  Yet, it is important to recognize its existence to be able to address sexual assault experienced by Elders. This session will identify how lifelong harm and current trauma from sexual assault are interwoven. The presenters will discuss prevalence, examine how Elders experience sexual assault, and what makes Native Elders vulnerable to sexual assault. Webinar attendees will be provided actionable strategies to enhance protection and support for Native Elders. Be part of the solution and empower your community to reclaim what is sacred.
