Description

Join API-GBV and Briana Valentino, a child forensic interviewer, as we discuss her insights into integrating interpreters in child forensic interviews. This highlights the stakes of knowing how to work with interpreters and children to minimize the risk of re-traumatization or jeopardized evidence. We will gain a deeper understanding of the expectations and recommendations for service providers working in multilingual settings and discover strategies for preparing everyone for an effective interaction through an interpreter. As a reminder, this is a space to share your questions and concerns or promising practices on increasing access to limited English-proficient survivors.
