Have domestic violence survivors ever asked you if they can leave Wyoming with their children? Have you ever worked with survivors who have fled to Wyoming with their children for safety? Do you have questions about interstate cases that you never had a chance to ask? The Legal Resource Center on Violence Against Women (LRC) will offer an interactive training and provide participants with an overview of the federal and state laws that govern interstate custody cases. The training will address the needs of advocates and attorneys who work with survivors and provide practical information about emerging interstate issues. Case scenarios will be used to demonstrate how advocates can help survivors address the economic, safety, and legal issues involved when they cross state lines to flee abuse or when they seek to have children returned from perpetrators. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions throughout the presentation.
